Backup systems

A data backup strategy is essential to ensure business information is protected from disaster. Data is very vulnerable without a backup copy to restore from if the need arises. A hard disk can fail at any time, and can leave data unrecoverable.

We offer various approaches to data backups, suitable for all sizes of company.

  • Traditional 'overnight' backup methods for corporate servers with large amounts of data. Tape drives or external hard disks with software to automate nightly backups can handle all of an organisation's data, and also test the integrity of the backups for problems.

  • Internet-based backups, where data is copied to storage space on an Internet server. Because the data is stored off site, it is safe from hazards such as fire or theft, and the process can be automated for convenience.

  • Offsite backups via a network connection to another site. This is similar to the online backup method, but involves a private connection (VPN) to another server in a separate office location. This offers the same protection against a disaster like a fire as the data is stored off site.

  • Removable storage such as USB flash drives, memory cards or external hard disks for manual file copying, or with software to help with the process.
